Ginger Citrus Splash Cocktail

Updated: May 4, 2023

When I glanced in my liquor cabinet to find an appropriate cocktail to pair with my Sephora

Collection purchases, I decided on the Marble Distilling Gingercello Liquor*, partly since it has a lovely black and white label (a la Sephora) and also because I wanted something refreshing and springy. Additionally, I decided it would be lovely paired with a new flavor of sparkling water that I got recently - Waterloo Ginger Citrus Twist.

Marble Distilling is based out of Carbondale, Colorado. I love to support Colorado companies, and they make it easy when they have great, enjoyable and beautiful products! On their website, they say the are "The Most Sustainable Distillery on the Planet". A bold claim! They share details about their distillery process and sustainability on their website.

About Gingercello, their website copy says:

"Even though we live in the mountains and love the snow, we celebrate when it melts. Our Gingercello is a tribute to springtime and a modern adaptation of the Italian classic.
We use fresh cut ginger and the sweetest part of the lemon zest for a refreshing taste. Well-aged, but you don’t have to wait until springtime to enjoy."

They describe is as Gluten Free, Non-GMO and 70 Proof. I purchased this bottle at the wonderful Aspen Famers' Market a year or two ago, along with a bottle of the Midnight Express, Espresso liquor. They had tastings and they were both lovely - full of clean and rich flavor.

To pair with my Sephora Collection Haul and makeup look, I thought a refreshing, gingery, citrusy, sparkly cocktail was just the way to go. If I do this one again, I will plan ahead and squeeze and/or muddle some fresh ginger to go with it. I have previously had the Gingercello liquor with ginger ale, which is wonderful and packs a zippy (but sweet) punch!

Not wanting anything TOO, TOO sweet tonight, I did add the lemon sugared rim to the glass, but decided to pair this with the Waterloo sparkling water in the flavor Ginger Citrus Twist, which just appeared at my local grocery store recently. Adding Angostura bitters, because I love bitters and ginger, and some fresh lime and lemon, this was a very light and refreshing, yet flavorful cocktail. This would be perfect for a spring or summer day, and pairs nicely with the clean lines of the Sephora Collection makeup!
