Although her line has just launched its first color products in August 2024, with four luscious, brand new bedazzled rhinestone lipsticks, I decided I'd create a post dedicated to the beauty line from icon and national treasure, Dolly Parton! I already loved Dolly so much, and then I made a trip to Dollywood for my goddaughter's graduation celebration and it made us all love Dolly Parton even more! She really has an amazing story of courage, ambition, talent, positivity, love, and giving back to her community. We stayed at the Dollywood Dreamland Resort, courtesy of my goddaughter's mom and sweet best friend since first grade, and we would all go back in a heartbeat! Dollywood itself has amazing rides, incredible food and so may cute little photo ops and Dolly-themed shows and stories about her life. Highly recommend!
Anyway - ON TO THE BEAUTY!
First Released by Dolly Beauty - Perfumes
When her first fragrance was released several years ago, my best friend sent me the roller ball of Dolly's Scent From Above Eau de Parfum. It's a powdery, slightly fruity and woodsy floral. Because I'm not usually a powdery fragrance fan, if it wasn't Dolly's, I admit I might not choose it, but because it is hers, I love it! She also sent me some body mists that I don't see on Dolly's site anymore. However, she now has one other EDP in addition to Scent From Above, which is called Smoky Mountain, plus a range of five other Eau de Toilettes, including Scent From Above EDT, Dancing Fireflies EDT, Smoky Mountain EDT, Tennessee Sunset EDT, and Early Morning Breeze EDT. All of the fragrance bottles come with the signature Dolly butterfly cap. While I don't see the rollerball currently, Scent From Above EDT appears to be sold in two sizes, 1 oz and 3.4 oz. Description of Scent from Above Perfume from Dolly Beauty
A playful floral, as soft and spirited as its namesake. Fruited notes as bright as rhinestones dance and float above irresistible florals, like butterflies in a garden. The earthen scents of southern fir and musk rise up to join them, in a sweet, singular harmony.

NEW Release from Dolly Beauty - Heaven's Kiss Lipsticks
I bought the four new lipsticks when they were first released. There was a bundle which gave a 10% ($2) discount on each lipstick, bringing the price for each down from $20 to $18. That bundle is not on the site at the moment, probably because the nude shade, Birthday Suit, is sold out. presumably, when that shade is restocked, the bundle will be too.
Ironically, that nude shade is the one I was most hesitant about. Nudes typically look horrendous on me, but I figured I should try them all out - for science! And, remarkably, Birthday Suit looks beautiful on! It's joined only about 2 other nude lipsticks that actually work well on me! As for my first impressions, the items arrived in a box marked with the Dolly logo, they were well padded and arrived with a generous deluxe spray vial sample of Scent From Above. The tubes are bedazzled and they were actually secured inside the boxes with a dab of fugitive glue (sticky glue) to keep them centered in view in the open box. At first, I wasn't sure why the product wouldn't dislodge from the box, but I had to remove that glue on the bottom of the box.
The tubes themselves are bedazzled with sparkling rhinestones, and have a push button mechanism on the top that, when pressed, pops out the lipstick tube from the bottom. The tubes are not super heavyweight, but the sparkle gives a luxe vibe. Not necessarily luxe like a super high end brand like Gucci or Dior, etc., but still luxe, sparkly and pretty.
The lipstick itself has an embossed signature butterfly, and has a very distinct fruity floral scent, which dissipates after application, but is definitely very noticeable when applying.

Jolene Red Lipstick
A stunning satin finish blue-red that lasts and lasts! Seriously pigmented and long-wearing, leaving a lovely stain immediately after you wipe it off or as it wears down. These are vegan and paraben-free. This color gave me hours of wear without budging, even when eating and drinking and did not bleed or settle into any fine lines (which I definitely have). I immediately got a compliment when I was out and wearing this shade!
My artistry tips for a long-wearing red lip:
Moisturized your lips, but remove any excess lip balm.
Then apply one coat of Jolene Red all over lips to complement your lip shape.
Blot with a tissue.
Apply red lip liner, defining and overlining slightly (if you like). I used Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Hollywood Vixen or Sephora Collection Liner-To-Go has a great red, too.
Apply a second coat of Jolene Red. If you like a matte finish, you can blot one more time, or leave the satin finish if you prefer.
Last step, rock that big Dolly smile and maybe sing a few lines from her classic song, Jolene!
Birthday Suit Lipstick
I was so surprised this shade complimented my coloring and did not wash me out at all. It feels moisturizing and has a nice satin finish. Again, if you prefer a more matte look in any of the shades, you can blot with a tissue to remove that shine. I used a light brown toffee colored liner from Chanel just to define the edges but honestly, it was pigmented enough when swiped on without a liner. A beautiful, nude shade.
Honey Plum Lipstick
The swatch on the website is not quite accurate for this one. In the tube, it appears a super DEEP aubergine, almost black. I found it to be the sheerest and shiniest of the four shades. This would probably retain some of its shine if you blot it, but can be worn sheer for a wash of color, or with multiple layers for a deep, burgundy-aubergine lip.
Rosebud Lipstick
A perfect, my-lips-but-better pink! This one felt hydrating, with a nice satin finish. I think this one was the least long-wearing of the four, but I also didn't really do any lip prep with this one. This would look great with a slightly overlined lip, and would work with a ton of different lip liners from light rose to nude to light brown, and would also look beautiful with a sparkly gloss over the top. I paired this with Huda Beauty's lip liner in Trophy Wife, which was a beautiful match.
Virtual Lipstick Try On Feature
If you use the mobile site, there is a virtual try on feature for the lipsticks that even allows you to dial up or down the intensity of the color. To me, it looked like the Jolene Red and Honey Plum were reasonably accurate when I tried the try-on feature, but the Rosebud and Birthday Suite were not at all accurate on me to the actual product, so use that feature with care! The colors of the live product looked way better on me than the virtual try-on for those two colors.
Future Makeup Releases
From what I understand, the lipsticks are just the beginning of the Dolly Beauty makeup line offerings. In an Instagram reel (see screenshot below), I see what looks like a rhinestone compact and another gold-stamped tube that could be the handle of a brush or maybe something else.
