Too Faced Italian Spritz Palette - Aperol Spritz Inspired

Updated: May 4, 2023

When I saw this palette release from Too Faced, I knew it would pair perfectly with one of my favorite summer cocktails, the Aperol Spritz. If you've been to Europe, notably Italy and Austria in the spring and summer, you would have a hard time missing this beautiful cocktail in the open air cafes and bars.

First, the Swatches

I had actually already created a few looks with this palette before I had enough time to do a full set of swatches. This palette has a wide range of colors and finishes and I find it a really nice release for spring that will be versatile year round - giving you options in shades and finishes from neutral to bright and dramatic. These are nice and pigmented - the shimmer formula (like Lake Como and Mamma Mia) seem ever so slightly more 'stiff' than I recall from their other palettes, but they still perform well, mostly applied with fingers. The metallics are smooth, intense and beautiful and the mattes are nicely pigmented but the ones I've used all blend nicely. I do get some actual sparkle/glitter (very fine) from some of the shades.

Citrus Scented Eyeshadow?

Sure enough, Too Faced has become known for its themed and scented palettes and products. In this palette, they have included the Italian Spritz theme with Italian shade names and an citrusy scent. I think the scent is quite faint on this one, less noticeable than on some of the other palettes, like Sweet Peach and some of the chocolate-themed ones. I don't notice the scent unless I raise the palette quite close to my face (and had to remind myself to do so), whereas the others are more noticeable once you open the palette. I don't think the scent would be too strong for even those somewhat sensitive to scents and the scent dissipates once applied.

Where to Buy & Reviews

This is available on Ulta's website and on the Too Faced website. I have not seen it at Sephora, so I don't think it will be sold there. For the most part, reviews are positive - others noted the shimmers were a little harder to work with, as I mentioned above. Some felt there were TOO many neutrals to be worth it, but overall most seemed happy with it the formula and the shades.

The Look I created, Inspired by the Aperol Spritz

Step 1: First, I applied Gelat-Ohh all over the eyelid extending up to brows with a fluffy eyeshadow brush to create a nice base for the rest of the shadow.

Step 2: Then, using a crease brush, I applied a mix of Feelin' Saucy and Capri Fun into the outer corner and above the crease, blending at the edges.

Step 3: Using a smaller eyeshadow brush, I also added some of this mix of colors underneath my lower lashes.

Step 4: I then added Ciao Bellini, a nice shimmery peachy-pink into the inner corner and blended into the darker shade in step 2.

Step 5: I added a touch of Grappa Don't Preach, a shimmery gold, into the center of the eyelids.

Step 6 (mascara): In addition to the eyeshadow application described above, I finished with the GXVE by Gwen Stefani mascara, which is a nice, vegan, volumizing and defining, deep black mascara.

Overall Impressions

I love that the case is Too Faced's classic metal case - they had a few recently that were cardboard.

It matches the size and shape of the other palettes, like Sweet Peach, the Chocolate Bar palettes, etc. At $54, I'm not sure it's a MUST-have for this spring, but it's a good contender if you are picking up only one, or a couple of palettes. I'd say you get a lot of shades (18) for your money and I'm glad to have it for the sentimental reasons of remembering being in Europe and drinking Aperol Spritzes. I think it's a great addition to have in my collection of Too Faced palettes. It is a really fun theme and a fun palette that is actually quite versatile with plenty of neutrals and warmer browns, tans and peaches, along with some bright and intense pops of color and lovely shimmers. You can definitely do some easy daytime looks with this, along with some more dramatic and colorful evening and festival looks. Let me know if you purchased this one, and what your thoughts are!
